Rachel & Veronica Rachel & Veronica from Road Rules are lecturing on positive body image & eating disorders. Rachel Robinson stated, As women on the MTV network, we felt we needed to put a speech together that had something to say aside from gossip about our shows. We need to address this subject matter here on campus. We can?t ignore it. Veronica Portillo opened up that she starved herself growing up in Orange County, California often eating only an apple a day. Ironically she was cast to be on Road Rules when she was at the depths of her starvation. Veronica stated, I found strength by traveling the world (on the show) and seeing how women are celebrated for their bodies. That was how I found inspiration.? Rachel follow up by saying, Confidence is the key to success. Media images are not reflections of reality. As individuals, we decide how to experience the media messages we encounter. (These images) are always going to exist. They won?t stop. It?s up to us to become a critical viewer and a smart viewer. Most interesting revelation I thought was when Rachel declared, The men on our shows are more body conscious than the women. She said this is because of the integration of metrosexuality into society, and the increasing use of steroids.

Real World Philadelphia The Real World Philadelphia premiered on Tuesday, September 7, 2004. This is the 15th season for this landmark MTV reality series. The Real World cast resides in a 10,000 square foot building at the corner of 3rd and Arch Streets which was a former bank building and former home to the Seaman's Church Institute, a non-profit organization geared to helping visiting seamen that come to port on various ships and tankers. The building was transformed for the Real World Philadelphia cast to include an atrium with an olive tree, a basketball hoop, and hot tub along with many of the other amenities familiar to Real World fans. This year's cast consists of seven strangers including four single guys and three single girls from around the United States.
The Real World Denver The Real World: Denver is the eighteenth season of MTV's popular reality television series The Real World, which focuses on seven strangers living together for several months in a different city each season, as cameras follow their lives and interpersonal relationships. The cast members are living in Denver's LoDo neighborhood in a recently renovated building which previously housed the B-52 Billiards, located at 1920 Market St. The announcement of the location came as a surprise to many, since it was anticipated that the eighteenth season would be filmed in Detroit rather than Denver [2]. The Denver season is expected to follow the format of the past seventeen seasons. Filming began in early June 2006 and was expected to end sometime in late-September (or about 17 weeks). In August 2006 it was reported that the crew would finish production on August 29 because it had enough footage. The Denver Post is publishing a blog that follow the production. It includes sightings as well as descriptions of the cast members. The local weekly paper "Westword" also staged a fake Real World productionwhere they spent a night at local bars with a phony filming crew, security team, producers and seven person cast. The video tapedstunt fooled hundreds of bargoers and got the attention of the New York Times in an article about reality shows.

Ruthie Alcaide In Real World Hawaii, Ruthie Alcaide proved to be one of the most interesting characters ever to appear on MTV’s Real World series. Real World Paris was season 13 on MTV airing late 2003. Tyrie Ballard Tyrie Ballard from the Real World Denver Ty Ballard, 23, was born on December 7th, 1982 in Omaha, Nebraska and now resides nearby in Lincoln, Nebraska. This is Ty's second reality show as he was one of the frat brothers of Tommy Lee during his reality show at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, "Tommy Lee Goes to College".Tyrie is a bit of a comedian on the Real World Denver while generally getting along with everyone he prides himself with putting a party on his back and running with it. Ty from the Real World Denver can be the life of the party but at the same time get other interested and involved. Chris Beckman Chris Beckman was bucking for a promotion at a now defunct dot-com in Boston when his friends at his gym persuaded him to audition for MTV's The Real World. Chris ended up as a cast member for the Chicago episodes. Many of that season's episodes explored deeper into Chris's recovery from alcoholism to a burgeoning relationship. Chris has since been the recipient of the Congressman Gerry E. Studs Visibility Award for being a positive role model in the gay community. Mohammed Bilal Mohammed Bilal, former cast member of MTV's highest-rated show, "The Real World" San Francisco. Bilal shared his life with over 1.5 million people every week, as one of the seven cast members of "The Real World." He is currently a member of Midnight Voices, a hip-hop band that has been nominated for numerous urban contemporary band awards. Bilal is a musician, poet and writer who educates audiences about some of today?s social ills. He will soon be publishing his first book that explores issues from image manipulation to anti-Semitism. Nick Brown Nick Brown is a replacement cast member that shares a similar personality to the departed Greg Halstead. Nick Born in Jamaica and grew up in New Rochelle, New York. Nick Brown Debuts toward the later part of The Real World Hollywood as he first appeared on Wednesday June 18th, 2008. Nick Graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in Management Information Systems. Chet Cannon Chet Cannon is 23 years old born and raised in Salt Lake City Utah but now residing in Manhattan. Chet Cannon comes across as very metrosexual and is chronically asking questions about many things on The Real World Brooklyn, but affirms he is straight. Chet was the first in line for The Real World casting call at nightclub Area 51 in Salt Lake City ironically fellow cast member Baya Voce was second. He has not drank alcohol or had premarital sex. Chet went to the University of Utah where he hosted a radio show called Chet Chat. He is two semesters short of graduating from U of Utah. Chet has 9 brothers and sisters. Ryan Conklin Ryan Conklin is 23 years old and lives in Gettysburg Pennsylvania but will be leaving to Iraq on April 15th, 2009 as part of the North Carolina National Guard for approximately a year. Ryan Conklin is an Iraq war veterean along with being an accomplished guitarist and prankster on The Real World Brooklyn. Ryan spent one yearlong tour in Iraq where he took part in guarding Saddam Hussein as a Specialist (E-4) in Alpha Company, Third Battalion of the 187th Infantry Regiment. She got a quick jump on college by attending class during High School and continued at Fresno State and Clovis Center majoring in Broadcasting Communications with a minor in Psychology. Her ultimate goal is to become an MTV VJ, TV host, or reporter. Trisha Cummings got onto The Real World Sydney by noticing an array of news cameras and a crowd of people at a cocktail lounge as she was shopping at a boutique in Fresno. Katelynn Cusanelli Katelynn Cusanelli is 25 and grew up in West Palm Beach Florida but now lives in Missoula Montana. Katelynn Cusanelli was the first transgendered person on any MTV Real World season when she was cast onto The Real World Brooklyn. Katelynn sent a casting video of herself when she turned 24 and visiting Montana for the first time. She completed her transgender surgery in Thailand during the summer of 2008. Colie completed about halfway through the next Real World Road Rules Challenge The Inferno 3 before being sent home.Colie, whose real name is actually Nicole Edison, happened upon the Real World by way of Hurricane Katrina in that during the evacuation she studied at Boston University and attended by chance a casting call in Boston.Colie of the Real World Denver is most proud of during the season was the bonding at an outdoors adventure experience of Outward Bound in Buena Vista, Colorado with New Orleans kids displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Damien Fahey MTV Host - Total Request Live As a Communications Major at Bostons Northeastern University, Damien Fahey performed as an on-air personality at the number one rated station in Boston, Kiss 108fm. Damien heard of a nationwide casting search for MTVs next VJ in February of 2002. Ever challenging his creative abilities Damien decided his seven years of on air radio experience and love of music would be well matched with MTV. After careful consideration and planning on the part of television executives, MTV found Damiens wealth of musical knowledge and extraordinary personality a perfect fit for what has been the flagship show of the network, TRL (Total Request Live). In addition, after a mere six-months, Damien has secured his own show called, Video Clash. Damien Fahey was met with many challenges when he first started on MTVs Summer 2002 Shore Thing. Upon only two weeks of being a correspondent to TRL, MTV was confident enough in Damiens ability to go it alone and host the show by himself. The shows were a success and highly praised by executive programmers, producers and fans who tuned in on a regular basis. Damien Fahey has since added his unique style and sense of humor to the highly popular TRL, as well as MTVs specials including, Countdown to the 2002 VMAs, End of Summer Countdown, and MTVs New Years Eve Pajama Party. He has also interviewed a diverse range of celebrity talent including, Mariah Carey, Avril Lavigne, 50 Cent, Matthew McConaughey and Shakira. While being raised by educators in Western Massachusetts, Damien Fahey knew from early on that he wanted to be heard. At the age of twelve, Damien managed to empty his entire savings account to purchase stereo equipment for his makeshift radio station that he was building in his room. After practice on his own and at the age of fourteen he was granted an internship at a local radio station. Within a few months Damien Fahey was given a part-time job as a weekend personality while still managing four years of high school. Damiens relentless passion for developing a life long career was met with an opportunity to advance eighty radio markets to Kiss 108fm as he left for college in Boston in the fall of 1999. Greg Halstead Greg is the first Real World roommate to be selected by viewers, who voted online for PretyBoy aka The Chosen One. With an unusual outlook on life he refers to people around him as peasants and calls women associates he is extremely competitive when it comes to sports and academics. Greg's attitude does not make him a favorite in The Real World house, especially since he plays pranks on his roommates. Scott Herman Scott Herman was born on October 8th, 1984 and now lives in the Manhattan borough of New York City. Scott Herman was the handsome body builder in pursuit of a modeling career on. Scott sent an audition tape due to the constant requests of a female client he was training as opposed to attending a Real World casting call in person. He grew up splitting time in both Lawrence Massachusetts and Salem New Hampsphire just across the northern border of Massachusetts. Danny Jamieson Danny Jamieson from MTV Real World Austin was the Boston male who grew up in a blue collar home working construction and fell for female cast member, Melinda Stolp, at first sight. He was seeing Melinda during the Austin Real World season and has elevated their relationship when he proposed to her just before the Reunion Show on MTV. He has appeared one Real World Road Rules challenge that being in the 2006 Fresh Meat challenge and will again be appearing in 2007's, The Inferno 3. KellyAnne Judd KellyAnne Judd was diagnoised in 7th grade with ADD and went through a painful cycle of medication until ultimately at the age of 17 she saw a nutritionist who got her on natural ADD medicine which she adjusted to much better and led her to contemplating a career in natural medicine. Like most that actually seem to make it onto The Real World KellyAnn Judd was pushed into it by someone else, who for her was her sister. So she went to the open audition in her town and was suprised that Bunim-Murray Productions kept calling her back through each round until she ended up on The Real World Sydney. Joey Kovar Joey Kovar was born on July 24th, 1983 in Evergreen, Illinois outside Chicago where he continues to reside. Joey did not even show up to any of the casting calls in Chicago, but was contacted via email on MySpace asking him if he would considered being on The Real World. This makes Joey the 2nd Real World cast member to be selected from Myspace and make it on to the show. Joey Kovar fits the role of an Italian muscle man that lives fast and acts out when drinking, but in the end recovers from both drug and alcohol addictions during The Real World Hollywood. Joey returns to The Real World Hollywood after completing rehab but shortly after decides to leave the show altogether, with a short visit before the season is over. Joey previously was addicted to alcohol, steroids, cocaine, & ecstasy but has been free of alcohol and drugs since September 2007. Joey studied at Moraine Valley Community College outside Chicago and plans to return and finish his degree in Nutrition. At 22, Joey lost over 100 pounds when he stopped using steroids and attempted suicide by hanging himself in August 2006. Brooke LaBarbera Brooke LaBarbera, 24, was born and still resides in Nashville, Tennessee where she also completed her degree in communications from Belmont University. Brooke ventured away from Nashville to try life out in Los Angeles, California when she was recruited to be on the Real World via Myspace. She is the first Real World cast member to have been recruited on Myspace, although she is surely not to be the last. Brooke of the Real World Denver has modeled in the past as a clothing store and print model such as in Maxim magazine, even appearing in two music videos, Phil Vassar's "I Take That as a Yes" & Keith Anderson's "Pickin' Wildflowers". Brooke would be an excellent speaker on conflict resolution, communication, and growing up in Nashville.
Cohutta Lee Cohutta Lee of The Real World Sydney attended both Dalton State College and North Georgia Technical School. Cohutta received his name from the Cohutta Mountains in Northern Georgia as it is a Cherokee Indian word meaning "moutains that hold up the sky". He started on the Real World process under pressure from his friends as he mentioned the audition at work and so felt he might as well go to a casting call rather than face any further ribbing from his friends. Cohutta post Real World Sydney main goal is to see everything he can while he is relatively young before settling down with a family of his own. He can make a good time out of any nightclub or bar event, especially if it includes him with a guitar around a campfire, as well he can speak upon living and surviving in nature, setting up a business, and small town living at college lectures.
Ananda Lewis Award-Winning Host of “The Ananda Lewis Show” A combination of deep compassion, true intelligence, striking beauty and a big mouth has helped award winning television host Ananda Lewis reach new heights. Her talents have garnered a wealth of achievements, yet she has only just begun! Ananda, Sanskrit for "bliss", has been touching lives on and off screen since the age of 13. The San Diego, California native was a Head Start volunteer while a student at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. David Malinosky David Malinosky was born on March 8th, 1985 and raised in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. Mike Mizanin Mike Mizanin also known as The Miz from Real World New York.The Miz was known as the likable wrestler alter ego of Mike Mizanin in Real World Back to New York. Real World Back to New York was season 10 airing on MTV in 2001. Mike The Miz would be great for speaking on sensitivity / wrestling / charities / relationships at college lectures. Mike has very limited time for Real World appearances as he focuses on his WWE career. Mike Mizanin is a veterean of the Real World Road Rules challeneges and won The Inferno 2 as a member of the Good Guys team. Parisa Montazaran Parisa from The Real World Sydney is an Iranian American. She graduated from NYU majoring in international relations, middle eastern studies, and economics in December 2006 just before leaving to Sydney, Australia. It was while at NYU in a sorority event her junior year where casting directors from Bunim-Murray Productions were holding a private casting call that she was chosen from an individual interview. Parisa has as main passion in life is to sing but she keeps her focus toward a career in US-Iranian diplomacy as she plans to pursue post-graduate studies in international law, focusing on human rights and cross-cultural exchange between US and the Middle East. Parisa of Real World Sydney can perform by MCing or singing at events and functions as well perform university lectures on diversity, Muslim youth in America, immigration, cross-cultural and inter-faith understanding, female/minority empowerment, overcoming adversity, time management, as well leadership practices.
Rachel Moyal Rachel Moyal from MTV Real World Austin was a veteran of the second Iraq war as she was deployed from March 2003 to 2004. She decided on being a nurse after a rough childhood as her parents refused to pay for college she decided to join the Army to accomplish this dream. Being deployed in Iraq she encountered life threatening situations and had to develop stress management skills which can be applied to everyday life. Stephen Nichols Stephen Nichols of the Real World Denver is currently attending Howard University in Washington DC as he is set to graduate in the Spring of 2007 before attending law school. He intends to pursue a career in public service in tandem to being a devout Christian he lives by the quote, "For whosoever among you shall be the first let him also be servant of all, for even Christ came not to be served, but to serve." Stephen is set to be portrayed as the conservative Republican African American on the Real World Denver who will stand up for his beliefs in a no nonsense approach but shows understanding and empathy for other people's views. Stephen of the Real World Denver had no intention of being on the Real World but advanced through the casting process when he spoke casually to a casting director after being referred by a friend when Bunim-Murray productions was on site at Howard University casting. JD Ordonez JD Ordonez is 23 years old and lives in Miami Florida. JD Ordonez is a person of a poor immigrant family pulling himself out of poverty and foster care to graduate college before joining The Real World Brooklyn cast. He shares many similarities with Pedro of the third Real World season in that they both are Cuban gay men from Miami and HIV activists. JD graduated from University of Miami. Veronica Portillo Veronica Portillo has grown into a confident, intelligent, sexy, and open-minded woman. A first generation Cuban-American, she was the first and only in her family to pursue a higher education. Her love and passion for the arts and multiculturalism inspired her to leave her childhood home in very republican and conservative Orange County, California for a much more dynamic and liberal environment as she studied at the University of California at Berkeley. It was here that Veronica truly found herself, and was able to define her own set of values by borrowing ideals from both living extremes and her inner strength. Having suffered from both bulimia and anorexia throughout her twenty-first year, Veronica has only truly become comfortable in her own skin through finding much needed confidence within herself. Sarah Ralston Sarah Ralston was born on September 2nd, 1986 in Ahwatukee, a suburb of Phoenix, Arizona where she continues to live as well in New York with her college sweetheart. Sarah graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University in 2007 at the age of 20 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Women Studies. Sarah Ralston is the pretty hispanic church going feminist cast member who has never left Arizona any real length of time before joining The Real World Hollywood. Sarah Rice Sarah Rice is 22 years old while being born and raised in Orange County she now lives in San Francisco California. Sarah went to The Real World casting call audition in San Francisco after hearing about it on the radio along her thinking she had nothing else to do. Danny Roberts Danny Roberts MTV Real World New Orleans Danny Roberts is one of the most recognizable faces in America. Best known for his role in the hit MTV series, Real World - New Orleans, Danny was catapulted from college-coed to celebrity overnight. He is considered one of the most popular MTV personalities in the history of the Real World franchise, and has successfully transitioned into a career of acting, modeling, and public speaking. After growing up in a small town in Northwest Georgia, Danny attended and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1999. Alex Smith Alex Smith from the Real World Denver. Alex Smith born and raised in Houston, Texas but lives in the Phoenix Arizona area where he attends Arizona State University. Alex originally attended the University of South Dakota for 2 years while participating on the swim then before transferring to Arizona State to continue swimming. In the 2005-2006 season he had the third best time for the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, & 100 backstroke. Alex is the laid back "player" and the youngest cast member on the Real World Denver and shows his carefree attitude and love of hooking up throughout the season. Isaac Stout Isaac Stout from The Real World Sydney is currently a Junior at the University of Arizona in Tucson, which is the same University as Alex from the previous season in Denver. Isaac has lofty goals with a business idea in mind before ultimately becoming President and running the world. His journey to The Real World Sydney began when he was dared by a girl to call into a radio station contest of which he won front of the line passes to the casting call in the area. Isaac from Real World Sydney has been an entertainer since birth where he won freestyled battles, stand up comedy awards, and MCing college pool parties... all this came in handy being a Contiki tour guide on the show. C.T. Tamburello Christopher Tamburello, 26, born on July 16 1980 in Brooklyn, New York and then raised in Methuen, Massachusetts. He now resides in the Boston area. He was known as the confrontational Boston guy from Real World Paris. Real World Paris was season 13 on MTV airing late 2003. Chris Tamburello has been on several challenges being the Inferno in 2004 and the Inferno 2 in 2005 as he was on the Bad Ass team. He will was on the recent challenge, The Duel. Brianna Taylor Brianna Taylor a reality show personality, singer and songwriter, having appeared on both the fifth season of American Idol and The Real World Hollywood, the twentieth season of MTVs long-running reality television series, The Real World. She released her debut, self-titled EP, Brianna Taylor, in 2008, on Chamberlain Records; according to that labels website, she is now signed to Universal Music.
Van Toffler Van Toffler is MTV Networks Group President, responsible for all of the MTV Networks music services including: MTV, MTV2, VH1, CMT and all their affiliated digital services, as well as Logo, MTV Networks soon to be launched network for the gay, lesbian, bi and transgender audience. Additionally, he is President of MTV Films, the feature film division he helped create in 1995. Shauvon Torres Shauvon from The Real World Sydney is currently a Senior at California State University Sacramento CSUS but will finish her journalism degree at Cal State LA. She seems to fulfill the "sex vixen" role within The Real World Sydney cast as she was newly single for the show and wrote a weekly column for the CSUS State Hornet Newspaper, called "Sex Capades", where she wrote about sex, dating, & relationships.
